OPTIWOOD

The objective of the OPTIWOOD project is to demonstrate and promote best practices to improve the efficiency of woodfuel boilers by 10%, which will reduce CO2 emissions and increase the economic efficiency of the installations.

Twelve pilot sites in France and the United Kingdom are involved in this project. The woodfuel boilers at these sites are monitored to measure their efficiency and analyze their operating cycle. By working closely with partners at each pilot site and analyzing the follow-up data, we will show that it is possible to improve the performance of the installation.

The project thus provides wood boiler operators with new skills and tools that will help them improve the efficiency and management of their boiler rooms. Efficiency gains are measured and quantified, as well as CO2 emissions avoided and savings achieved.

Technical days, training courses and conferences will be organised throughout the Channel Area in order to train more woodfuel boiler operators.

The OPTIWOOD project is supported by the Interreg France Channel England programme. The OPTIWOOD project consortium includes 4 partners, South East Wood Fuels (England), Pays de fougères, the Department of Ille-et-Vilaine and AILE, project coordinator.
